Rosemount® MLT (multi-gas analyzer)

Category:

Description

The MLT replaced (or augmented) the NGA-2000 series.  The MLT essentially replaced the NGA-2000 Platform and came with new integrated gas “physics” benches (Rosemount interchangeably refers to gas detection assemblies as “optical benches”, “benches”, “physics benches”, or “benches.”  The MLT has the ability to communicate with the older NGA-2000 analyzers (shoeboxes) including TO2, NDIR, FID, HFID, PMD, CLD, and WCLD.  This accomplished via Ethernet interconnecting cabling (actually LON [local operating network], and specifically, Echelon protocol [sometimes misspelled as Eshelon]).

General

This is a special announcement regarding Rosemount’s 42716489-V1 infrared (IR) source. The 42716489-V1 became NLA (no longer available) August 2023 but “magically” became available again in early 2024. The initial panic was primarily due to the OEM’s closure of its Hasselroth Germany facility; Rosemount had moved various Hasselroth functions to Stirling, Scotland and Cumbernauld, England; during this transition Rosemount was unsure if it could still manufacture these IR sources so it declared them as NLA slightly prematurely.

ORIGINAL INFORMATION ABOUT 42716489-V1: This is an infrared source (IR) for the MLT microchannel physics benches. Typically used for CO and CO2 measurements. Two wires. Reads approximately 20 ohms when new. It is an encapsulated (includes hermetically sealed BaF2 window and nitrogen filled cavity) infrared source with integral parabolic mirror; with wire harness (two conductors) and plug (5 pins connector (2 wires, 2 blanks, 1 key; connects to PIC01 or XSP01). See specification sheet – cut sheet.

In the event that Rosemount discontinues the IR source sometime in the future, RIGAS will take advance orders for this item (a little engineering time will need to be invested) and sell them under this part number (PN): 42716489-V1-RIGAS.  RIGAS usually has 42716489-V1 in stock.
